Party Watch Response to Brent Regan's Claims

Hey Party Watchers,

Normally, we don’t respond to those who feel the need to explain themselves. After all, as Ronald Reagan famously said, “If you’re explaining, you’re losing.” However, this time we felt it necessary to shed some direct sunlight on Brent Regan’s claims; because sunlight is the best disinfectant for shady assertions.

1. How Does Brent Regan Know All of This?

Brent Regan is the chairman of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC). He holds no position on the state executive board, is not a staff member, and was not a member of the Financial Review Committee that evaluated Dorothy Moon’s finances.

Yet, somehow, Brent claims to know:

  • That Dorothy Moon drove exactly 19,000 miles. Did he see the mileage logs? Can we see them too?

  • The precise amounts paid by every delegate, alternate, and guest for the RNC, as well as the total expenses and leftover funds. No other county chairman has this level of information; so how does Brent have access to it?

2. The Missing Caucus Funds

Let’s talk about the real issue: money.

According to Article V, Section 2 of the caucus rules passed by the Idaho GOP, half of the $300,000 collected from presidential candidates ($150,000) was supposed to be distributed to counties to offset caucus costs. Yet Dorothy Moon only distributed $75,000 (according to Brent)—half of what was required.

  • Brent, since you seem obsessed with defending your BFF, please don’t reply with something like, “She distributed that money with caucus preparations and expenses, etc., to help.”

  • Don’t insult us. You might be a sycophant, drinking her “in-the-red” Kool-Aid, but the rest of us aren’t.

The rules are clear, leaving zero room for interpretation. They even state:

“These amounts shall be retained by the county central committees even if their cost of administering the caucus in their county is less than that amount.”

So, Brent:

  • Where is the rest of the money?

  • Why are counties being shortchanged while Dorothy Moon’s leadership is being praised as “fiscally conservative”?

True fiscal conservatism means transparency and accountability, not playing favorites with funds that are meant to support counties and grassroots Republicans. Why is Dorothy spending Party money to have someone stay at the luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel in Dana Point, CA, and not spending to support candidates?

3. Shifting the Focus

Rather than addressing legitimate questions about missing funds and misplaced priorities, Brent Regan’s response seems more like a fan letter than a factual defense.

Here’s the truth: Brent’s attempt to explain away these issues only raises more questions about his intentions.

Is Brent Regan just a simp for Dorothy Moon, defending her at all costs while ignoring the broader concerns of Idaho Republicans?

4. Grassroots Republicans Deserve Better

Idaho Republicans deserve leadership that puts grassroots candidates and county committees first; not leadership that prioritizes VIP events, personal travel, and excuses.

If Brent Regan or Dorothy Moon want to silence the criticism, they should start by explaining:

  • Where the caucus funds went and why counties didn’t receive their full share.

  • Why candidates in competitive races continue to be ignored while resources are wasted elsewhere. (Cough cough…visa card.)

Until then, we’ll keep doing what we do best: holding leadership accountable and advocating for the grassroots Republicans who deserve better.

5. The Curious Case of Brent’s Op-Eds

Here’s a question: Why is Brent Regan allowed, or asked, to write glowing op-eds about Queen Dorothy?
We don’t recall a time when any other chairman was given this privilege. Can other chairmen get in on this?

At some point, Brent should look long and hard in the mirror and ask himself:

“What the hell am I doing?”

  • You viciously attack anyone who dares disagree with you.

  • You un-surreptitiously throw people off your committee as fast as possible.

  • You defend actions you don’t even believe in.

  • You refuse to condemn actual awful people and endorse questionable figures (cocaine users over upstanding community members).

And for what? To be the chair of the Great Kootenai County Central Committee? A committee that’s been the laughing stock of the nation?

6. What’s Driving Brent?

Is it fake power because you were never allowed to be in charge of anything before? Is it just pride? Did you go all-in, thinking Dorothy was the next savior of your ever-changing definition of conservatism, and now you can’t go back? Is Brent simply making things up to protect Dorothy Moon, or is he acting as her #1 fan? Either way, his credibility is questionable.

We’ve heard that narcissists love attention; good or bad. If the shoe fits...

7. A Final Thought

Brent, it seems like you used to be a man of principle and integrity. Even if we disagreed, you were respected.
Now? You just look like someone desperate to hold onto “fake power” that doesn’t exist.

Your job should be to serve the county, not rule over it.

Cheers,
Party Watch
