Is Dorothy Moon Going to Resign in Shame?

To the Members of the Idaho GOP State Central Committee:

If you’ve been following the soap opera at Idaho Republican Party headquarters, you know the Executive Committee forced Chairwoman Dorothy Moon to call an emergency meeting to address the chaos and dysfunction within the party staff, chaos that begins and ends with her.

That meeting took place Monday. Committee members traveled from all corners of the state, on their own time, at their own expense, only to discover that Dorothy had once again ignored party rules. She sent meeting notices to only some members of the Executive Committee, deliberately excluding more than a dozen. This wasn’t a mistake: it was a blatant violation of procedure. What was she trying to hide?

After three hours of debate and closed-door sessions, the committee concluded there was no way to proceed. Dorothy’s disregard for basic rules made the meeting illegitimate. The only path forward was to start over and order her to send proper notice, this time, to all committee members as required by party rules.

The irony? Dorothy (and/ or her son) reportedly lives rent-free in a party-funded apartment, and gets reimbursed for hundreds of miles of travel. Meanwhile, the rest of the committee paid their own way. Their own fuel, food and hotels. Every dollar spent on Dorothy’s expenses comes from donors. Is it any wonder party donations are at an all-time low?

This is not leadership. This is manipulation.

Dorothy’s pattern is clear: include only those she controls, exclude anyone who might hold her accountable. Just look at who she left out of Monday’s meeting; not just rank-and-file non-voting members, but key voices representing Young Republicans, Republican Women, donor groups, and even our congressional and statewide offices. None of them got invited. Except, of course, for her loyalist and personal defender, Finance Chair Brent Regan. At this point, she's not even trying to hide her malfeasance.

When one excluded member called before the meeting to ask if they should attend, they were told, “No, we’re going into executive session for voting.” Translation: If you aren’t in Dorothy’s club, you’re not welcome.

(Fun Side Note: According to Robert's Rules, all board members have the right to attend executive sessions. But rules are stupid, way easier to make them up to suit your needs.)

The meeting was a disaster from start to finish:

  • What was supposed to be a one-hour meeting devolved into three hours of chaos, secrecy, and infighting.

  • The rules were bent, broken, and ignored at every turn.

  • Dorothy clashed openly with other leaders, including Secretary & lobbyist Maria Nate, First Vice Chair Mark Fuller, and National Committeeman Bryan Smith, people who are finally fed up with her mismanagement.

And the outcome?
Absolutely nothing. The meeting was declared invalid. Every bit of work and every dollar spent to get there was wasted; because Dorothy couldn’t or wouldn’t follow the most basic procedures.

Here’s the bottom line:
Dorothy Moon’s leadership is costing this party its integrity, its unity, and its financial future. She rules by exclusion, intimidation, and self-interest. She talks about unity but delivers only division. She talks about fiscal responsibility while draining party resources for her own benefit.

If you are tired of the waste, the drama, the bullying, and the endless chaos, now is the time for action. The Idaho Republican Party is not Dorothy Moon’s personal fiefdom or piggy bank. It belongs to all of us, and it’s up to you, the State Central Committee, to take it back.

Real leadership is possible.

It’s time to unite behind those willing to lead with transparency, fairness, and respect for the rules.

The future of our party depends on your courage. Don’t let Dorothy’s circus go on any longer.
